Purpose: To register, acknowledge and promote participation in Marine Corps Marathon Organization events. Information is used to plan, organize, coordinate and execute the events and communicate with the runners and volunteers before, during and after the event to include publication of finisher results, finisher certificates and race photographs, videos and motion pictures. Data and photographs, videotape, motion pictures and other recordings may be used by the Marine Corps Marathon Organization and its select sponsors for surveys, publications on websites, race programs and promotions, newspaper articles, newsletters and other race marketing purposes and runner enhancements.
Routine Uses: Information is accessed by Marine Corps Marathon Organization personnel with a need to know to meet the purpose. Information may be provided to television, online and print media to provide publicity on the Marine Corps Marathon Organization events and to selected sponsors approved by the Marine Corps Marathon Organization. Disclosure: Voluntary. However, failure to provide the information may result in ineligibility to participate in the Marine Corps Marathon Organization events.
For considering my entry's acceptance in the MCMO Event, I the undersigned, intending to be legally bound, waive and release for myself, my heirs, executor and administrators, any and all rights and claims for damages, demands and any other actions, which I may have against the US Marine Corps, US Government, National Park Service, volunteer medical support, all participating supporting agencies, sponsors and those entities' representatives, successors and assignees, from my participation in the event, including any and all injuries suffered by me because of my participation in this event. I verify I have full knowledge of the rigors of this race and the risk involved in participation, including but not limited to trip and fall, loss of orientation, exhaustion, dehydration, hyponatremia, fatigue, over-exertion, sun or heat stroke, cold injuries, hypothermia, and any other injuries related to running and/or endurance events. I assert that I am physically fit and have sufficiently trained to complete this event. I realize medical support for this event will consist of primarily of volunteer medical personnel prepared to administer first-aid type assistance along the race course and the finish line.
The MCMO Events are open to all people who are physically fit. However, running is not recommended for people below the age of 10. It is also recommended anyone over the age of 35 and/or with a family history of heart disease consult with their physician before undertaking the event.
I hereby grant permission to the Marine Corps Marathon Organization and its sponsors to use all information submitted in my application, and any photograph, videotape, motion pictures, recording and any other record of this event including race results, my likeness, name and completion time for any lawful purpose related to the race and post-race publicity. The United States Government has requested that I grant, release, and discharge certain rights arising from my appearance, or the appearance of an infant or minor child for whom I execute custody, in any picture, video, advertisement, or other recording or presentation as a result of my participation in the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM), Marine Corps Historic Half, MCM Event Series and other related events. I hereby grant and release to the United States Government the right to use my name, likeness, and personal information, or that of said infant or minor child, in any manner, and to photograph, videotape, make motion pictures, recordings or any other record o; to reproduce, duplicate, publish, exhibit, use or transmit the same or any parts thereof, by any means, in any manner and for any purpose whatsoever; and to do the same perpetually. This voluntary grant and release will not be made the basis of a future claim of any kind against the United States Government. I release and discharge the United States Government from any cause of action arising from my participation or the participation of the infant or minor child in the production. This grant, release, and discharge shall inure to the benefit of the United States Government, and its officers, agents, servants, and employees when acting in their official capacities; and to persons, firms or corporations contracting with the United States Government and state and local government entities supporting these events, and their heirs, executors, administrators, successors, or assigns; and to any other persons lawfully reproducing, distributing, exhibiting, or otherwise using the said production or any portion thereof. Runner data may be used to offer a limited number of race enhancements.
The Race Director reserves the right to reject any entry. No unauthorized bicycles, roller skates or other wheeled devices are permitted during the race; headphones and other similar devices are not advised.
Athlete acknowledges that the entry fee paid is non-refundable. Athlete acknowledges and agrees that the Marine Corps Marathon Organization in its sole discretion may delay or cancel the event if it believes the conditions on race day are unsafe. In the event the Event is delayed or cancelled for any reason, including but not limited to: fire, threatened or actual strike, labor difficulty, work stoppage, insurrection, war, public disaster, flood, unavoidable casualty, acts of God or the elements, or any other cause beyond the control of the Marine Corps Marathon there shall be no refund of the entry fee or any other costs of Athlete in connection with the Event. I, the athlete/participant, acknowledge and agree that by participating in the Run Amuck/Belleau Wood, an adventure sports race, I am assuming all the risks attendant with the participation in an inherently dangerous activity that could result in destruction of personal property as well as serious personal injury or death to myself or other participants.
Nonetheless, and in spite of my full knowledge of the risks involved in the above-named event, I EXPRESSLY AND KNOWINGLY AND FREELY ACCEPT AND ASSUME ALL RISKS INVOLVED IN AND ASSOCIATED WITH ALL ASPECTS OF THE ABOVE ACTIVITY, AND AGREE TO HOLD HARMLESS THE MARINE CORPS MARATHON ORGANIZATION, UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT, THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE, THE DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY, THE UNITED STATES MARINES CORPS AND THE MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO.
Therefore, and in consideration of the privilege to participate in this activity I, the undersigned person, do hereby, freely, voluntarily and intending to be legally bound, accept all risks associated with this activity and waive any and all rights to any claims or demands or any other actions whatsoever, including those attributable to negligence, for damages, due to accident, injury, or my death resulting from my participation in this activity, or any use I may make of MCB Quantico, or Government equipment or facilities in furtherance of my participation in this activity, for myself, my spouse, my parents or guardians, heirs, executors, administrators of my estate, legal representatives or anyone else on my behalf, which I have against any of the following: The United States of America, the Department of Defense, the Department of the Navy, the United States Marine Corps, Marine Corps Base Quantico, Marine Corps Marathon Organization or any and all individuals assigned to or employed by the United States, to include but not limited to, the Secretary of the Navy, the Commandant of the Marine Corps, the Commanding General of the Marine Corps Combat Development Command, or the Commander of Marine Corps Base Quantico, in both their official and personal capabilities, or any medical personnel assigned thereto, or their representatives, successors, or assigns.
I understand that the above language means I have abandoned any rights I may have, or any rights anyone associated with me may have, through legal or friendship or family ties, to sue the Federal Government for any injury I may sustain because of my participation in these activities that results in any damage whatsoever to my property, my person, or in my death. By signing this document, I acknowledge that the Federal Government, or any agency or employee thereof, is not liable for any injury I may sustain, to include death, as a result of my participation in these activities. By signing this document, I effectively and comprehensively assume all risk associated with these activities. This document shall remain in effect and be held until notice of cancellation is received by the Commander, Marine Corps Base Quantico.

I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS AGREEMENT, THAT I AM FULLY AWARE OF THE RISKS INVOLVED IN THIS ACTIVITY, AND THAT I VOLUNTARILY ACCEPT AND ASSUME THE RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH SUCH ACTIVITY.
I understand that should I decline to execute this Waiver of Liability, I will not be permitted to participate in the Marine Corps Marathon RUN AMUCK & Belleau Wood directed activities.
